PRESENTATION

Feedbacks « real » feedbacks?

During all the semester we worked on the toolkit as a group, with different points of view creating several discussions and self-reflexions about the project. While through the workshop and the appointment with Melanie at the BBSB we considered the feedbacks as “real feedbacks” due to the outside position of the participants.

How your future architectural practice will be influenced after this project?

Generally this method of working during this semester gave us new perspectives to design, especially involving people in the design process to take more in account their needs. Depending of our home countries, it teaches us the method of collective documentation and team design process.

Despite all the visual tools normally used in architecture field why do you choose to work with physical tools?

Physical tools allow us to work easily in group around one document that is not possible with a computer. For example, the Prezi is for us a tool to represent our documentations while the “board” is more a tool to work and to reveal outcomes.

What is the toolkit?

For us the final toolkit is the manualCAD however we thought all our process as a toolkit composed of different elements all explain thanks to instruction manuals available through the website. This solution should allow people to get information and to take part in the project at any phases.

Do you let all the process opened or do you let only the toolkit available?

According to the last answer, our aim is to let all the process available for everyone who wants to improve the toolkit.

Do you think that the toolkit is only a replacement of the software AutoCAD?

The grid of the board and the libraries we did give some similarities with AutoCAD but manualCAD is a new tool to complete autoCAD by adding new parameters as sensations, feelings, textures, etc… unreproducible on a computer. AutoCAD is more a representative tool while ManualCAD should be more used to design in groups and give opportunities to everybody to participate at the design process.

Do you think to an other solution to give a scale to the board?

The question of the scale was discussed a lot during the design process and finally through workshop we defined that the scale should be defined by everyone and there is no need to determine a particular scale.

How do you integrate the feedbacks you get through the workshop with Melanie EGERER (blind)?

Even if the feedbacks of Melanie were really interessant for us, her experience of reading plan and communicate space allows her to go fast on several information which was important for us to understand a space at different deepness. Develop to be accessible to a large public we chose to keep the sounds and the smell as criteria to describe a place
