Workshop organisation

To develop our design process we read the article by Eva Brandt, Thomas Binder and Elizabeth B.-N. Sanders, Ways to engage telling, making and enacting. In this text, we learn how to organise a participatory process through 3 steps : telling, making, and enacting.

TELLING : What is the imaginary context

MAKING : How to use and play with our toolkit.

ENACTING : Process of the day by using our bodies as a tool of communication

For our own process we reuse this principle. For the telling we decide to write a scenario inspired by the book of José Saranago "Blindness" in which the world is being affected by an epidemic of blindness. Due to this disease, it looks relevant to think about a new tool to communicate and represent spaces with blind people. For the making step, we thought about a draft model with a lot of materials and tools which can allow to modify it during the workshop, to test new solutions, etc... Then, for the third step of enacting, we designed a new short sensory exploration to make people aware with blindness related with our own exploration at Königsplatz. By couples, one blind-folded will be directed by his partner by using some cards which will guide them and make them using their other senses and their body as a measurement tool.
